Tea Tree

Tea tree oil is a great way to holistically boost immunity as well as protect the body from pathogens.  It has proven antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, working to repel pathogens, prevent infections and skin irritation, and even protect against illness such as the flu and pneumonia. There are many ways to use tea tree including diffusing in an oil diffuser, adding a few drops to a spray bottle and spritzing throughout the house, or sniffing directly from the bottle to help relieve coughs. A few drops of tea tree oil can also be added to coconut oil and spread on the chest to relieve painful congestion. However, tea tree oil should never be ingested and should only be used with adult supervision.

Peppermint

Help children and teens stay alert with peppermint oil, which is known to help stimulate the brain and increase mental awareness. Peppermint oil is also thought to memory, enhance performance on visual tasks, and shorten reaction time. To help children and young adults improve focus, alertness, and clarity, sprinkle a few drops of peppermint oil on a cotton ball or sniff it directly from the bottle. It can also be used in a diffuser, and is especially effective in rooms where kids are doing homework or other mental tasks. The menthol in the peppermint helps to keep the brain agile and awake during tasks that require mental alertness.

Lavender

Lavender is known to safety ease kids into a peaceful sleep as well as relieve symptoms of stress and anxiety.  Studies show that it improves sleep quality and duration, promoting a deeper sleep. It is especially effective when used alongside chamomile, which has long been used to calm nerves, relieve anxiety, and stop nightmares. To naturally promote peaceful sleep, use lavender oil in a diffuser in your child’s room; add a few drops of chamomile essential oil to ease nightmares. Sprinkle a few drops on pillows and sheets, or dilute lavender in jojoba or sweet almond oil and use for a gentle massage before bed.

More peaceful sleep, less stress, and an overall healthier immune system is made possible by the use of essential oils. Protect children from colds and infections this season with sustainable and organically source essential oils.
